We are upgrading some of our infrastructure and I'm reading up on cat8 vs fiber.

Hey all, I think I know the answer to this question but I wanted to see what you all thought. I am hopeful your suggestion above Gregory will indeed solve this problem of mine (based on follow-up answers for these two questions, if you are willing).

'Service Support Admin Role' includes a free 365 email account for this purpose, or at least it can automatically *forward* email messages sent to it (and at no charge) to a different (non-admin) 365 email account in the same tenant, for this purpose? I ask this because of the following: I should have clarified that me hanging out in the 365 admin portal all day (and/or for multiple days possibly), just to watch if/when a reply to a support ticket occurs there, is not a solution (at least for me).I am too busy, and I need to receive 365 support department email messages, like is normal/intended. Interesting idea :) Can you clarify a few things though:ДЎ) Are you saying that the 'Service Support Admin Role' is *not* included by default, under the 'Global Admin Role?' And/or.

Maybe there is a super simple answer/solution to this problem, one which I am overlooking? Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and/or just letting me know what do you guys do regarding all this? I know that if/when the support ticket appears within the admin center (when logged into my Global Admin account), I can retro-actively add a second email account to the ticket, but 1) the tickets don't always show up there (that happened again to me this morning), and 2) I'm having a hard time trying to remember to do that, at least before the support reps send multiple, subsequent emails out, which I never receive, and then the tickets then get closed due to lack of response from me. Therefore, I am finally turning to Spiceworks for suggestions: What do you guys do about this issue? Do you guys simply use your Global Admin account as your main email box as well? Or do you guys pay for an email account for one (or more) Global Admin accounts, *only* due to this issue? Or perhaps I *am* the only person that has ran into this problem (lol)! Its a classic case of the 'left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.' In other words, its the 365 support reps not understanding (or caring to understand?) the long-standing recommendations Microsoft has made to us IT folk, and good luck trying to explain this 'catch-22' type problem to them.they are so laser-focused on solving less esoteric technical problems (which, in fairness, is their main job), that they never seem to grasp this 'catch-22' type problem, when I try to explain it to them. The result is that the 365 support department always ends up sending support ticket related email messages, to an email address that doesn't exist / doesn't have a mailbox associated with it. Hopefully now you can see the problem: None of our Global Admin accounts have mailboxes, and none of our mailbox/license enabled accounts have Global Admin privilege. The problem has been though, when I call the 365 technical support department, they only want to open a support ticket under/with an account in our 365 tenant which has Global Admin privilege (which is understandable).

It's also a good idea to remove the Microsoft 365 license from the admin accounts so you don't have to pay for them.' Admins should have a separate user account for regular use of Office apps and only use their administrative account when necessary to manage accounts and devices, and while working on other admin functions. Indeed, this paragraph from that article is a good summary of what I have done with our 365 tenant: ' Use admin accounts only for administration. (I am posting that link just to be extra clear about how I had previously setup our 365 tenant). In preparing for this post I am making right here/now on Spiceworks, I found this Microsoft article which is *exactly* what I had done in our 365 tenant, long before I found this article today. Therefore, we don't pay for a 365 license/mailbox for that (or any) Global Admin accounts. I am confident that I am *not* the first person to run into this problem, but it currently *feels* that way to me: It seems like there is a 'catch-22' type scenario present, regarding the technical support department for Office-365 (aka: Microsoft-365) and Microsoft's own, longstanding recommendations of 'Least-Privilege Access.' Specifically, I have followed those recommendations, such that I do not use my 365 Global Admin account as my daily use account.
